Gaëlle Mot is a self-taught Franco-Swiss painter specializing in oil painting. Her work explores seascapes and lakescapes, between realism and dreamlike imagery, where light, silence, and fluidity become the true subjects.

 

Gaëlle Mot grew up in the port of Bélon (Brittany) where she learned to sail and drew inspiration from the sea to paint her first seascapes. Painting the seascape became her passion and the guiding thread of her life as an artist. Today, the Emerald Coast is her family's home base in France.

 

After her training at the Atelier du Passage in Paris, Gaëlle Mot moved with her family to Zurich and then Geneva. There, she fell under the spell of the Swiss lakes . Naturalized Swiss in 2024, Gaëlle Mot lives and works in Geneva, where she teaches oil painting in her Geneva studio.

 

Trained by Jean Arcelin, Stéphane Ruais and Thierry Lefort, inspired by Marquet, Turner, Hopper or even Hodler and Vallotton, Gaëlle Mot develops her own pictorial universe in a timeless work, marked by an evocative human absence, striking aqueous surfaces and a poetic tension between photography and painting.

 

Whether in her Geneva studio or with her outdoor easel on the shores of Lake Geneva or by the sea, Gaëlle Mot pursues her artistic journey with determination. She exhibits regularly in Brittany, Switzerland, and very soon in Marseille. Her paintings are held in several collections in France, Switzerland, and internationally.
